Al-Anon Family Group Headquarters Provides help and fellowship for relatives and friends of alcoholics.
Alcoholics Anonymous
A fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each
other to solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. There are
no dues or fees for A.A. membership. The group is self-supporting through members' contributions.
Alcohol MD
Comprehensive site for treatment and recovery from alcoholism.
Contains treatment locator service, public and private forums, video interviews,
and multimedia presentations.
American Society for Addiction Medicine
(ASAM) The American Society of Addiction Medicine is an association of physicians
dedicated to improving the treatment of alcoholism and other addictions, educating
physicians and medical students, promoting research and prevention, and
enlightening and informing the medical community and the public about these issues.
Club Drugs.Org
A service of the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) devoted to providing research
and community drug alert bulletins on club drugs.
Cocaine Anonymous
C.A. is concerned solely with the personal recovery and continued sobriety
of individual drug addicts who turn to our Fellowship for help. We do not
engage in the fields of drug
addiction research, medical or psychiatric treatment, drug education, or propaganda
in any form - although members may participate in such activities as individuals.
Join Together Online A project of the Boston University School of Public Health, Join Together is a national resource of information for communities working to reduce substance abuse and gun violence.
"Monitoring the Future Survey"
An annual study of drug use by high school students, college students and young adults.
The Monitoring the Future Study is funded by research grants from the National Institute on
Drug Abuse, a part of the National Institute of Health, and conducted at the Survey Research
Center at the University of Michigan.
Mothers Against Drunk Driving
(MADD) A nonprofit, grass roots organization with more than 600 chapters composed
of mothers, fathers, young people and concerned individuals looking for effective
solutions to drunk driving and underage
drinking, and supporting those affected by these problems.
Narcotics Anonymous An international, community-based association of recovering drug addicts with nearly 20,000 meetings in seventy countries.
National Association of Children of Alcoholics
(NACoA) The National Association of Children of Alcoholics is a national nonprofit
membership organization working on behalf of children of alcohol and drug dependent
parents by raising public awareness, providing leadership in public policy,
and advocating for effective and accessible education and prevention services.
National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse (CASA) at Columbia University informs Americans of the economic and social costs of substance abuse and its impact on their lives.
National Clearinghouse for Alcohol and Drug Information (NCADI) A clearinghouse of information on alcohol and drugs, NCADI is a service of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.
National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence
(NCADD) provides education, information, help and hope to the public and advocates prevention, intervention
and treatment through a national office and a nationwide network of affiliates.
National Families in Action
(NFIA) A national drug education, prevention and policy center, NFIA's mission is to
help families and communities prevent drug abuse among children by promoting policies based
on science.
National Household Survey
An annual survey of national household drug use by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services
Administration (SAMHSA) of the Department of Health and Human Services.
National Inhalant Prevention Coalition
(NIPC) An inhalant referral and information clearinghouse which develops information and works with state
agencies, schools, businesses, and law enforcement to educate youth and adults about the debilitating
effects of inhalant abuse.
National Institute on Drug Abuse
(NIDA) NIDA's mission is to bring the power of science to bear on drug abuse and addiction by conducting
research and ensuring the dissemination and use of its research results to significantly improve
drug abuse and addiction prevention, treatment, and policy. NIDA is a part of the National Institute
of Health, Department of Health and Human Services.
Office of National Drug Control Policy
(ONDCP) Establishes policies, priorities, and objectives for the nation's drug control program, the goals
of which are to reduce illicit drug use; manufacturing and trafficking; drug-related crime and
violence; and drug-related health consequences.
The Other Bar
The Other Bar is a network of volunteer lawyers and judges who deal with alcoholism
and chemical dependency on a personal and absolutely confidential basis by
providing ongoing assistance and support. These volunteers hold regular confidential meetings and offer assistance
to each other and to family members where alcohol and/or drugs have become a problem. The
Other Bar also operates a 24-hour toll-free telephone service for information, emergencies and referral.
Partnership for a Drug-Free America
(PDFA) A private, nonprofit, non-partisan coalition of professionals from the communications
industry whose mission is to reduce the demand for illicit drugs in America through media.
Recovering Couples Anonymous
(RCA) is a 12-Step Fellowship founded in the autumn of 1988. There are groups throughout
the United States, as well as worldwide. Although there is no organizational affiliation with
Alcoholics Anonymous©, The 12 Steps, 12 Traditions and Principles are adapted from A.A.
Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration
(SAMHSA) The Federal agency charged with improving the quality and availability of prevention, treatment,
and rehabilitative services in order to reduce illness, death, disability, and cost to society
resulting from substance abuse and mental illnesses.
Treatment Information Exchange
A resource of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration,
providing a searchable directory of 12,000 drug and alcohol treatment programs
in the country.
